Harpreet Badohal
Harpreet Badohal is a registered health and safety professional and a devoted family member. During his early years in Canada, Harpreet balanced parenting his 2-year-old daughter with various jobs, including farm labour and pizza delivery, while his wife pursued full-time studies in Dental Hygiene.
Harpreet is deeply grateful to live in Kelowna-Mission, such a beautiful part of the world, surrounded by people filled with love, hope, and kindness. Harpreet deeply understands the complex challenges faced by this region. He is dedicated to working at the ground level with anyone and everyone to tackle local issues. Inspired by his Sikh faith, Harpreet aims to dedicate the rest of his life to public service, a commitment he refers to as Sewa, meaning selfless service. Driven by a deep love for all humanity, Harpreet eagerly connects with everyone and is a strong believer in the power of dialogue to address and resolve issues.
Harpreet is passionate about social justice and is committed to ensuring that essential services are accessible to everyone without a delay. Harpreet wants to help his community adopt new strategies for a sustainable economic future while listening, learning, and collecting feedback and information toward possible short-term solutions. Harpreet is consistently engaging with the community to stay on top of the needs and aspirations of the people.
Harpreet is a qualified professional who earned his M.Sc. in Occupational and Environmental Hygiene from the Faculty of Medicine, University of British Columbia, Vancouver in 2011. Before that, he completed an M.Sc. in Botany in 1996 and spent several years as a Botany professor outside Canada. Since 2016 he has been working as an Officer with WorkSafeBC. Previously, he led professional teams with the Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety in Saskatchewan.
Harpreet and his wife Jade, who is both his best friend and a supportive partner since their college days in 1991, have made Okanagan their home since 2016. Together they have two wonderful children: their daughter Jaysheen, who is now in her third year at UBC Vancouver, and their son Sermour, who is in grade 8. Harpreet was raised by a single mother.
Harpreet is ready to take real action to build a Canada that's fair, affordable, and where everyone can access the services they need.
